PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State dropped its series-opener to Oregon 21-3 at Bailey-Brayton Field Friday evening.

Danny Sinatro and Garrett Gouldsmith each led the Cougars with a pair of hits. Freshman catcher Bradley Polinsky came off the bench to make his collegiate debut and also recorded his first career hit, a double to right centerfield in the eighth inning. Junior infielder Grant DeLappe also recorded his first career hit, a single up the middle in the ninth inning.

In a first inning that lasted 44 minutes, the first two Oregon hitters reached on WSU errors and the Ducks pushed five runs across in the inning. In the bottom half of the inning, Dillon Plew and Danny Sinatro each singled to start the inning and a couple walks later WSU pushed a run across but left the bases loaded.

In the third, Oregon used three walks and three hits to pull away with four more runs and later added 11 runs in the sixth. Oregon finished the night with 19 hits and WSU committed four errors.
