SPOKANE, Wash. (May 4, 2026) – Washington State dropped a 10-5 nonconference decision at Gonzaga Monday afternoon.

The Cougars (25-23), winners of five straight weekend series for the first time since 1999, received multiple-hit games from four players led by Trevor Smith's three. Gavin Roy, Matt Priest and Ollie Obenour each recorded two hits while Obenour homered and drove in two runs.

WSU took a 5-2 lead into the sixth inning but Gonzaga (29-17) used nine hits to score seven runs and take the lead.

Both teams left eight runners on base.

KEY MOMENTS OF THE GAME
The Cougars loaded the bases and pushed a pair of runs across after back-to-back bases loaded walks. WSU added another run on Smith's RBI-single through the right side int eh second inning.

GU loaded the bases in the third inning and pushed two runs across on groundball double play and wild pitch.

WSU answered with a run in the fourth inning and Obenour led off the sixth with an opposite field solo homer to right field for a 5-2 lead. GU answered with seven runs on nine hits in their half of the sixth for a 9-5 advantage.
