Cougars Beat Air Force 14-4, Clinch Sixth Straight Series

The Cougars improved to 27-23 overall and 15-8 in Mountain West play for the most conference wins since 2010, the seven series wins are the most since 2017, the 14 road wins are the most since 2000 and the six-straight series are the longest series winning streak since 1995.

Six hitters recorded multiple-hit games led by Gavin Roy and Max Hartman who each tallied three hits while Trevor Smith and Hartman scored three runs. Ryan Skjonsby drove in four runs, Dustin Robinson drove in three runs and Ollie Obenour doubled twice. WSU's seven doubles were a season high, tied for the fourth-most program history and were the most since 2022.

Griffin Smith earned the win after allowing just two earned runs over six innings and matched a career-high with six strikeouts.

Washington State scored four times in the first inning and three in the second to build a 7-2 lead before pulling away with three in the fourth, one in the fifth and three in the sixth.

KEY MOMENTS OF THE GAME
The Cougars used five hits to plate four runs in the opening frame. Hartman doubled off the right field wall to score Trevor Smith, two batters later Skjonsby lined an opposite-field two-run single into left-centerfield and Obenour capped the scoring an RBI-double in to left-centerfield for a 4-0 lead.

WSU answered two runs from Air Force in the first with three more in the second on a Matt Priest sacrifice fly and Dustin Robinson's two-run single into centerfield for a 7-2 lead. The Cougars pushed their lead to 10-3 with three runs in the fourth inning on a Robinson RBI-single and a two-run infield single from Skjonsby who beat out an infield single to second while Robinson raced around third to follow Priest home.

Roy pulled an RBI-double just inside the third base bag and down the line in the fifth before WSU pulled away with three in the sixth inning. Ollie Obenour doubled to left field with one outs, one batter later Northrop pulled an RBI-double to left field and Trevor Smith followed with his own RBI-double to left field.

Scott Rienguette took over with a runner on first and closed out the run-rule win with a scoreless seventh.
