LONG BEACH, Calif. – Sophomore Yang Lee advanced to the Flight B singles final with a pair of victories to highlight Washington State's play during the second day of the 2019 Beach Tennis Fall Tournament, Saturday at the Rhodes Tennis Center.
 
In singles action, Lee needed three sets to get past Loyola Marymount's Cristina Flaquer, 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 in the quarterfinals. Lee followed that with a straight-set, 7-5, 6-2 semifinal win over Cal State Northridge's Jacquie Tan to advance to Sunday's final.
 
In the A Flight, Cougar freshman Pang Jittakoat advanced in three sets over Northridge's Jolene Coetzee, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, before falling her semifinal to Loyola Marymount's Lillian Gabrielsen, 6-1, 6-4. Also in Flight A, WSU's Hikaru Sato fell to Long Beach State's Natalia Munoz, 6-4, 7-5, while Savanna Ly-Nguyen also dropped her quarterfinal match, 0-6, 7-5, 6-2 to Cal State Northridge's Ekaterina Repina.
 
In the C Flight, freshman Carla Quadflieg dropped her quarterfinal match to Northridge's Lauren Anderson, 7-5, 6-1. I the C consolation draw, freshman Maddie Egan posted a pair of wins, defeating Portland's Anna Obert, 6-1, 6-3, followed by a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Obert's teammate, Raphelle LeBlanc.
 
In doubles action, Sato and Jittakota advanced to the A final with a 7-5 win over Portland's Lukic and Tanevska. Ly-Nguyen and Lee fell in their semifinal match, dropping a 6-3 contest to Long Beach State's Munoz and Lennon.
 
In the B Flight semifinal, Portland's Elenova and Schuster got past Quadflieg and Egan, 6-1,
 
Play concludes Sunday at the Beach Tennis Fall Tournament beginning at 10 a.m.
