Cougars Post 4-0 Victory over Eagles

PULLMAN, Wash. (March 21, 2026) – Washington State's depth showed out in the Cougs 4-0 win over Eastern Washington, Saturday afternoon. Yura Nakagawa showed her strength in both singles and doubles, winning both matches. Ava-Monet Sycamore was the other Coug to win both her singles and doubles match this afternoon.
With the win, the Cougars improves to 8-6 while Eastern Washington falls to 8-6.
Doubles started the day with the Cougars sweeping all three matches to earn the point. The No. 3 pairing of Zali Morris and Yura Nakagawa were the first off the court, winning their match over Leandra Nizetic and Maria Lope Gomez 6-1. Then the No. 2 pairing of Eva Alvarez Sande and Ava-Monet Sycamore clinched the point for the Cougs, defeating ANairt Arutiunian and Sara Vasic, 6-1. At No.1, the Cougs pairing of Maxine Murphy and Chisato Kanemaki came away with a 6-4 win over Olivia Marais and Zoe Pradel.
In singles play, No. 4 Nakagawa was the first to win her match, conquering Veronika Gayevyk in straight sets 6-0, 6-2. No. 3 Martina Puvill was the next off the court, winning her match in dominant fashion 6-2, 6-2. No. 6 Sycamore clinched the overall win for the Cougars, winning her match 6-2, 6-3 in a competitive battle against Aneliss Zamfirescu. With the team outcome decided, Washington State defaulted the match at No.5 singles with the game tied at 6-0, 2-6, 1-1.
The Cougars are next in action tomorrow, March 22, when they host LMU for WCC play.
