Senior Lorena Arias Finds Success Against BYU

PULLMAN, Wash. - Lorena Arias defeated Sofia Holden 6-3, 7-6(8) in the number two singles position and along with partner Chris Martinez defeated Hadley Macfarlane/Barbora Zahnova, 8-6 in the number one doubles slot in Washington State's first dual match of the season against Brigham Young Friday.
Junior Nora Gaal also knocked off her opponent, Macfarlane, in the number five position with a score of 6-4, 6-3.
Washington State lost the match 5-2.
"BYU has improved tremendously since last year. They are a strong, well-coached team," Washington State Head Coach Lisa Hart said. "I am proud of the competitive spirit shown by Lorena in both her matches."
The Cougars will head to Virginia to face Radford and Virginia Tech Feb. 13 and 14, respectively.
