WSU CAREER

JUNIOR (2003-04): Put down 13 Cougar opponents playing in the No. 3 and No. 4 positions...began the season with six straight wins...captured the Cougar Classic Championship at the No. 3 slot by defeating Boise State's Alyssa Ayling...also took the Brigham Young Championship at the No. 4 position by handing a loss to Brigham Young's Rebecca Pike...recorded nine doubles victories on the season with partner Lorena Arias to put the pair in the Cougar record books tied for the No. 1 spot in career doubles victories with 46 wins...earned 2004 Pac-10 All-Academic Honorable Mention.

SOPHOMORE (2002-03): Won 18 singles matches for the Cougars...played mainly in the No. 3 singles spot...lost in the championship of the United States Air Force Academy Invitational...paired with teammate Lorena Arias to compete in the No. 1 doubles slot...recorded 18 doubles match wins...placed second on the WSU all-time doubles victory list...fourth on the WSU single list of single season doubles victories...named Pac-10 All-Academic Honorable Mention.

FRESHMAN (2001-02): Was second on the team with 22 singles victories (Stacy McKenna, 23)...her 62.9 winning percentage was third best on the team...played No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles positions for the Cougars...teamed with Lorena Arias to win 19 doubles matches, good for third on the WSU single season list and tied for eighth on the career list...their doubles winning percentage of 67.9 percent ranks 10th on the Cougar career doubles winning percentage list...their biggest doubles victory of the season was an 8-4 win against USC's No. 19 Loyola/Magnai duo April 13.

HIGH SCHOOL CAREER: Martinez is the second Mexican woman tennis player in Cougars' history...as a SOPHOMORE she captured the State, regional and sectional championships...during her JUNIOR year, she earned the national doubles title...as a SENIOR, she was crowned national singles champion and national doubles runner-up...earned the 2000 State Sport Award.

PERSONAL: Chris Alethia Martinez-Hernandez born Jan. 21, 1983 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico...parents Gerardo Martinez and Ernestina Hernandez...father is a college professor, mother a public accountant...two brothers Gerardo and Ricardo...enjoys music and traveling.
