WSU CAREER

CAREER: Finished her Cougar career as the school’s all-time wins leading in combined victories with 197…she is the school’s all-time leader with 91 doubles victories and third in singles wins with 106…her 106 career singles wins were two shy of Elisabeth Fournier’s school record of 108…graduated with a degree in computer science and received the President’s Award for Leadership in 2021.

5th-YEAR SENIOR (2020-21): Finished the season with a 17-8 singles record, 6-3 in Pac-12 play, and 14-11 doubles mark, 2-6 in conference…played mainly at No. 6 singles, going 13-7, and 4-1 at No. 5…won her first five matches of the season and eight of her first nine…led team with five match-clinching wins during the season…biggest win of season came against No. 37 Oregon, defeating Allison Mulville in straight-sets to clinch the team victory over the Ducks…won the final match of a her career, a straight-set win over Colorado in the first round of the Pac-12 Championship…played at the top two spots in doubles, going 6-6 at No. 1 mainly with Hikaru Sato, and 8-5 at No. 2 with Yang Lee… has been named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Northwest recipient of the Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship and the Cissie Leary Sportsmanship Awards. This marks Ates' second time receiving the Arthur Ashe Award.

SENIOR (2019-20): Finished the season with a 20-6 singles record and 19-4 doubles mark before season was stopped due to COVID-19 pandemic...has 89 career singles wins, seventh all-time...her 20 singles victories were a team-best....played mainly at No. 4, posting a 7-2 record...had team-leading three match-clinching wins...Compiled a 10-1 singles record and 8-1 doubles mark in the fall…ended fall 2019 ranked No. 103…reached a career-high of 91 in the ITA rankings (Feb. 5) won titles at the Cougar Classic in B Flight Singles and at the Redbird Invite in A Flight Singles…won Cougar Classic doubles title with Hikaru Sato and won Redbird Doubles Invite with Carla Quadflieg…defeated #24 Julia Rosenqvist of California in straight sets at ITA Northwest Regional, the biggest upset of her career.
JUNIOR (2017-18): Finished the season with a 21-6 singles record and 21-14 doubles mark...went 7-2 at No. 6, 3-3 at No. 5 and 1-0 at No. 4...went 2-2 in Pac-12 play...season-best nine-match winning streak to start the fall season... won first seven dual matches of spring...teamed with Yang Lee to post an 18-12 doubles record, 15-11 in dual matches...went 14-11 at No. 2, 1-0 at No. 1...duo defeated Miami’s pair at NCAA Championship to clinch doubles point for WSU...in the fall captured titles at the Cougar Classic and Long Beach Invitational.
SOPHOMORE (2017-18): Posted a 26-7 singles record, 17-3 in dual matches, including a 5-1 record in Pac-12 play...in doubles play teamed with Bara Michalkova as the duo went 16-10, 7-6 in dual matches, all at No. 1...played mainly at No. 6 singles, going 16-3...only Cougar player not to lose two consecutive matches all season...had three match-clinching wins for WSU, including at No. 41 USC and at Arizona...season-best eight-match winning streak midway through the spring season...only Cougar to defeat Cal twice this season and also picked up only singles win against Washington...teamed with Bara Michalkova to defeat No. 36 Olivia Hauger and Julia Rosenqvist of Cal early in season. 
FRESHMAN (2016-17): Posted a 22-13 overall singles record and 21-12 doubles record…her 22 singles wins and 43 combined victories were tops on the team…went 11-11 in dual matches, mainly at No. 5 where she was 11-9...captured the Cougar Classic Gray Flight singles title in the fall, going 4-0...season-best nine match winning streak from late fall to early spring...had four match-clinching victories in dual play...in doubles, advanced to the semifinals at the UNLV Invitational and the third round of play at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships paired with Victoria Matejevic.

JUNIOR CAREER

Reached a high of No.13 in Turkey’s national rankings and as high as No.3 in age-group rankings...represented Turkey’s national team in all age divisions, finishing runner up in the U16 national championship...garnered a world ranking in doubles playing numerous International Tennis Federation events...led her high school to the Black Sea Region championships, finishing second that season in Turkey.
