Biography
WSU CAREER
SOPHOMORE (2019-20): Finished the season with an 18-6 singles mark and 20-4 doubles record…went 9-3 in singles dual matches, predominantly at No. 2, and was 2-0 in Pac-12 play before season was stopped due to COVID-19 pandemic…her 20 doubles wins were team best…went 9-3 in doubles dual matches, 7-3 at No. 1 , 4-1 with Michaela Bayerlova and 3-2 with Melisa Ates…was riding three-match winning streak when season was halted, including straight-set wins over Colorado and Utah…in lone match at No. 1 singles, defeated Fordham’s Arian Taluyenko in straight sets…season-best five-match winning streak to open the Fall season...in Fall had an 8-2 singles record and 9-1 doubles mark…won Crimson Singles title at Cougar Classic after defeating teammate Savanna Ly-Nguyen in three-set marathon final…also won Crimson Doubles title, pairing with Melisa Ates…won title in Doubles at Beach Tennis Fall Tournament with Pang Jittakoat...reached second round at ITA Northwest Regional.
FRESHMAN (2018- 19): Had strong freshman campaign, going 19-16 in singles and 26-8 in doubles...went 12-13 in dual matches, going 6-11 at No. 2, 3-2 at No. 3 and 3-0 at No. 1...had three match-clinching wins, vs. Arizona, Iowa State and Seattle...season-best six-match win streak early in spring...went 5-6 in three-set matches...teamed with Tiffany Mylonas to go 26-6 in doubles, 18-6 in duals and 8-0 in tournament play...team reached a high of No. 22 in ITA rankings...duo is 6-2 against nationally-ranked players, including top 20 wins over No. 5 UCLA, No. 13 Miami and No. 14 Stanford...in final nine matches leading into NCAA Championship, team was 6-0 with three matches unfinished. All nine of those matches came against teams ranked in the top 50...pair captured the Cougar Classic and Long Beach Invitational titles.
JUNIOR CAREER
Sato  arrives at WSU following a stellar International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior career where she reached a career-best ranking of 197. She has captured three tournament titles, all coming in 2016, including G5 championships in South Korea and Vietnam, both doubles titles, and the singles championship at the Chinese Taipei G4 event. Also in 2016, she reached the finals of two G4 doubles events, in Japan and Chinese Taipei. In 2017, Sato was a two-time finalist in doubles, repeating at the G3 Chinese Taipei event and also at the G2 event in Nagoya, Japan.
