Cougars Fall at Cal Poly in Series Opener

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (February 20, 2026) – Washington State dropped the series-opener at Cal Poly 9-0 at Baggett Stadium Friday evening.
The Cougars received hits from Max Hartman and Matt Priest but Cal Poly used a four-run first inning and two-run second inning to back starter Griffin Naess who struck out 14 over seven innings.
KEY MOMENTS OF THE GAME
Cal Poly used four hits and one error to plate four runs in the opening frame and three hits to score two runs in the second inning. The Mustangs added two more runs in the fourth and one in the seventh inning.
Cal Poly starter Naess allowed just one hit and did not issue a work in his seven innings the Mustangs finished with 13 hits.
