Cougars Head North For Gonzaga Invitational

PULLMAN, Wash. (Oct. 30, 2025) – The Washington State Women's Tennis team will head 75 miles north this weekend to compete in the Gonzaga Invitational, Oct. 31-Nov. 2, at the Stevens Center.
The Cougars will send four student-athletes to compete in the flighted-draw event. Juniors Yura Nakagawa and Zali Morris along with sophomore Chisato Kanemaki and Martina Puvill will be in Spokane this weekend.
The schedule of events begins Friday at 8:30 a.m. with two doubles matches, followed by singles beginning at Noon. Friday's schedule is:
DOUBLES
Gold Flight
8:30 a.m. – Morris/Nakagawa (WSU) vs. Matthews/Schraeder (Idaho)
8:30 a.m. – Puvill/Kanemaki (WSU) vs. Bean/Gelashvilli (Mont. St.)
10 a.m. – Morris/Nakagawa vs. Halvorsen/Paterova (Utah St.) or Mihulka/Daughters (Ore.)
10 a.m. - Puvill/Kanemaki (WSU) vs. Perez/Galatescu (Port.) or Pradel/Marais (EWU)
SINGLES
Red Flight
Noon – Martina Puvill WSU) vs. Natalie Paterova (Utah St.)
Noon – Chisato Kanemaki (WSU) vs. Terezia Mikva (Utah St.)
Blue Flight
3 p.m. – Yura Nakagawa (WSU) vs. Veronika Gayevyk (EWU)
4 p.m. - Zali Morris (WSU) vs. Kasumi Hirayama (Port. St.)
The projected schedule includes two doubles matches and one singles match on Friday, followed by one doubles and two singles matches on Saturday. The weekend will conclude on Sunday with one doubles and one singles match.
In addition to Washington State and host Gonzaga, other teams competing this weekend include Eastern Washington, Idaho, Montana State, Oregon, Portland, Portland State, Seattle, and Utah State.
