BERKELEY, Calif. (Oct. 10, 2024) – Washington State Tennis will compete in the 2024 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northwest Region Championships, this Friday-Tuesday, Oct. 11-15, at the Hellman Tennis Complex on the University of California campus. The event is one of 13 hosted by the ITA across the country with the singles finalists and the doubles champions from each region qualifying for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships in November.

Play at the ITA NW Regionals begins Friday with qualifying singles rounds and fist round of doubles. Below are scheduled first round matches for both singles and doubles draws

Friday's Singles Qualifying First Round:

Madhu Satishbabu (WSU) vs. Zoe Pradel (Eastern Washington)
Martina Markov (WSU) vs. Duru Durgun (San Jose State)
Martina Puvill (WSU) vs. Kelly Arends (Eastern Washington)

Saturday's Main Draw Singles First Round:

Elyse Tse (WSU) vs. No. 7 Valencia Xu (Stanford)
Chisato Kanemaki (WSU) vs. Sophie Hernandez (California)
Hania Abouelsaad (WSU) vs. San Jose State's Cheuk Ying Shek (San Jose State)
No. 9 Eva Alvarez Sande (WSU) vs. Carina Syrtveit (Washington)
Maxine Murphy (WSU) will face a qualifier in her first round match

Friday's Main Draw Doubles First Round:

Martinia Puvill/Madhu Satishbabu (WSU) vs. Sara Vasic/Zoe Pradel (Eastern Washington)
No. 7 Maxine Murphy/Eva Alvarez Sande (WSU) receives a first-round bye
Hania Abouelsaad/Martina Markov (WSU) vs. Ayra Salim/Elizabeth Strongina (Portland State)
No. 9 Elyse Tse/Chisato Kanemaki (WSU) receives a first-round bye

The 2024 ITA Northwest Regional includes players from Washington State, host Cal, along with Eastern Washington, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Oregon, Portland, Portland State, Sacramento State, Saint Mary's, San Jose State, Santa Clara, Stanford and Washington.
