Cougars Fall to No. 3 Stanford on Senior Day

The Cougars collected 10 hits including three from Elijah Hainline who hit his team-leading 12th home run of the season while Sam Brown delivered a two-run single to push his season RBI total to 58 and Nate Swarts homered.
Stanford scored three runs in the first and WSU evened things with a run in the first and two in the second but the Cardinal scored in each of the next six innings to earn the win.
Washington State finished the season with a 29-23 overall record, their fourth straight winning season after posting series wins at No. 15 Oregon State, over No. 12 UCLA, Arizona and at California. The Cougars hit 54 home runs, tenth-most in WSU single-history, the pitching staff set a single-season record for strikeouts for the second straight season after recording 518 strikeouts this season while the defense posted the fourth-best fielding percentage I program history.
KEY MOMENTS OF THE GAME
Stanford used a three-run homer to left field in the first for an early lead but the Cougars loaded the bases in the bottom half of the inning and Hainline pulled an RBI-single through the left side.
In the second, Kyle Russell muscled a single into right field, Jonah Advincula worked a walk and Brown bounced a single into right-centerfield to score two as Advincula raced around from first to tie the game at three. Stanford came right back with three runs on four hits in the third to take a 6-3 advantage.
Stanford continued to add on with runs in the final seven innings.
