Nakagawa, Kumhom Claim Titles at Gonzaga Fall Invitational

SPOKANE, Wash. – Yura Nakagawa and Fifa Kumhom each captured individual titles then teamed together for another at the Gonzaga Fall Invitational Sunday at the Stevens Center.
Nakagawa faced teammate Eva Alvarez Sande in Sunday's Gold final and came away with a 6-3, 6-4 win. In the Blue draw final, Kumhom cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win over Montana State's Meg McCarty. In the Blue consolation draw, WSU's Elyse Tse posted a 6-4, 6-2 win over Idaho's Valentina Rodas before capturing a 7-5, 6-4 win over Portland's Nadine Arbaizar Martinez in the final.
In the Red bracket final, WSU's Hanina Abouelsaad fell 6-3, 6-0 to Seattle's Lamija Avdic. In the consolation match, WSU's Martina Markov defeated Portland's Meagan Pearson, 6-4, 6-1.
It the doubles Gold draw final, as Nakagawa and Kumhom posted a 6-3 win over Gonzaga's Kianna Oda and Emily Robertson.
The Cougars return to the court Nov. 1-5 when they participate in the ITA National Fall Championships in San Diego, Calif.
