Cougars Fall at No. 13 UCLA

LOS ANGELES – Washington State tennis suffered just its second loss of the season and its first in Pac-12 play as it fell at No. 13 UCLA, 4-0, Saturday afternoon. The day began with three tightly contested doubles matches as WSU won 6-3 and No. 2 while No. 1 went to UCLA, 6-4. In the third and deciding doubles match, it came down to No. 3 where WSU's Michaela Bayerlova and Aneta Miksovska forced a tiebreaker before falling, giving UCLA the opening point. The Bruins came out strong in singles, capturing the first three completed matches to secure the team victory. After sophomore Melisa Ates fell at No. 6, Barbora Michalkova was next off with a 6-3, 6-2 loss against No. 46 Abi Altick. Freshmen Michaela Bayerlova also fell to a ranked player, 6-3, 6-4 against No. 13 Ena Shibahara. Bayerlova's loss at No. 1 singles ended the match and all remaining matches were halted. With the  loss, the Cougars fall to 17-2 overall and 2-1 in Pac-12 play. WSU travels back to Pullman to face Utah, March 30 at 1:30 p.m.
