Cougars Post 4-0 Sweep Against Utah

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State tennis improved to 18-2 this season after posting a 4-0 victory over Utah Friday afternoon at the Simmelink Tennis Courts as Hollingbery Fieldhouse. The Cougars quickly gained the lead by capturing the doubles point at No. 2 and 3, the 17th time this season they've captured the doubles advantage. Guzal Yusupova extended the lead with the first singles win, a 6-2 6-2 straight-set victory at No. 2. At No. 4 singles Barbora Michalkova captured her 24th of the season and within minutes, freshman Michaela Bayerlova clinched the match for the team at No.1 singles—both with straight-set victories. The remaining match, Tiffany Mylonas at No. 3 singles, was stopped in the third set once the team secured their victory sweep. With this win the Cougars improve to 18-2 for the season, 3-1 in Pac-12 play and take the lead all-time against Utah, 8-7. WSU continues play against Colorado, Sunday at 10 a.m.
