Cougars Open 2018 Schedule in Strong Fashion

HONOLULU – Washington State University began its 2018 spring tennis schedule during the first day of play at the Weinman Foundation Invitational Thursday at the UH Tennis Complex. The Cougars, host Hawaii and Cal State Northridge comprise the three-team event, which features singles and doubles matches, though no team scores are kept. Play began with doubles where the Cougars captured two of its three matches. In singles action, WSU posted five victories, all in straight sets, against just two defeats.

Thursday marked the fourth-straight season WSU opened its spring schedule in Hawaii.
Freshman Michaela Bayerlova, currently ranked No. 635 in the world, improved to 4-0 as a collegian.
Senior Barbora Michalkova picked up her 40th career singles victory.
Sophomore Ege Tomey won her 20th career singles match as a Cougar.
The Cougars continue play at the Weinman Foundation Invitational Friday. Play begins at 11 a.m. PT.
