Cougars Sweep Singles Play in Hawaii

HONOLULU – Washington State University continued its 2018 season-opening tournament by posting nine wins Friday during the second day of play at the Weinman Foundation Invitational at the UH Tennis Complex. The Cougars, host Hawaii and Cal State Northridge comprise the three-team event, which features singles and doubles matches, though no team scores are kept. For the second straight day, the Cougars captured two of three doubles matches, but unlike Thursday, WSU swept all seven singles matches Friday, four coming in straight sets.

With her victory today, junior Tiffany Mylonas has now won her last nine singles matches dating back to the fall.
Sophomore Guzal Yusupova is 5-0 in singles play this season, dating back to the fall.
Senior Barbora Michalkova has won her last five singles matches, the longest streak of her career.
Following the first two days of play, the Cougars are 12-2 in singles and 4-2 in doubles play.
The Cougars conclude play at the Weinman Foundation Invitational Saturday. Play begins at 10:30 a.m. PT.
