Mylonas/Miksovska Capture Doubles Titles at UNLV

LAS VEGAS – Washington State's doubles team of Tiffany Mylonas and Aneta Miksovska captured the flight two doubles title Sunday to conclude play in the 2017 UNLV Fall Invitational at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

In Sunday final, the Cougar pair cruised to an 8-4 victory over UNLV's Juliet Zhang and Isumi Asano to capture the championship. In the first flight of doubles, WSU's Barbora Michalkova and Melisa Ates captured third place with an 8-1 victory over Long Beach State's Sadaf Sadeghvaziri and Lalita Devarakonda.

In singles play, the Cougars battled throughout the day but did not capture a flight victory. In the first flight, Long Beach State's Natalia Munoz narrowly defeated Michalkova, 6-4, 6-4 in the final. The second flight also included some close matches with Mylonas falling in three sets to UNLV's Anna Bogoslavets while Miksovska dropped a close straight-set match to UNLV's En-Pei Huang in the third-place match.

In the third flight, Ates was locked in a close battle in the second set with UNLV's Jovana Kenic before retiring while in the fourth flight WSU's Ege Tomey was on serve in the first with UNVL's Asano before she retired.

The Cougars are next in action as a team Oct. 6 at the Beach Tennis Fall Tournament, hosted by Long Beach State.
