Pac-12 Championships Up Next for Men’s Golf

WSU will compete against several ranked opponents at Boulder, Colo.
THIS WEEK: Washington State men's golf will travel to Boulder, Colo., to close out the regular season at the 2017 Pac-12 Championships, hosted by Colorado, Friday through Sunday, April 28-30.
THE TOURNAMENT: Four rounds will be played over the span of three days at the Boulder Country Club, a 7,129-yard track at a par-70…the course was established in 1962 and has an elevation of 5,220-feet, the highest all-time for a men's Pac-12 Championship…teams will play 36 holes Friday beginning at 6:30 a.m. PT/7:30 a.m. MT…the third round will tee off Saturday at 9 a.m. PT, and the final round will begin Sunday at 7 a.m. PT.
THE FIELD: All 12 members of the conference will compete at the event, including five top-25 opponents; No. 1 USC, No. 8 Stanford, No. 10 Oregon, No. 22 Arizona State, and No. 25 Colorado.
REPRESENTING WASHINGTON STATE: Competing for the Cougars will be juniors Derek Bayley and Zach Anderson, freshman Daniel Kolar, senior Nick Mandell, junior Brian Mogg, and sophomore Grant Cole.
LAST TIME AT THE PAC-12 CHAMPIONSHIPS: Bayley and Anderson recorded top-25 finishes as WSU finished ninth at the 2016 Pac-12 Championships at Salt Lake City, Utah…Bayley tied for 19th (+4, 288), while Anderson tied for 24th at 5-over (289)…Anderson shot 64 (-7) in the third round, which tied for second-best in school history for lowest Pac-12 Championship single-round score…then-freshman AJ Armstrong tied for 45th (+15, 299)…then-junior Nick Mandell finished 66th (+24, 308).
LAST TIME ON THE GREEN: WSU finished seventh (+44, 908) at the El Macero Classic, Apr. 13-14…two golfers finished in the top-25… Bayley tied for 8th place (+7, 223), his third top-10 performance of the season…Kolar tied for 20th (+12, 228), the first top-25 performance of his career…Anderson shot 13-over through three rounds (229) to tie for 28th…Mandell and Bogg each tied for 33rd with a score of 230 (+14), while Armstrong tied for 55th place (+21, 237).
COACHING STAFF: The team is led by first-year head coach Dustin White, who was an assistant coach at WSU before accepting the head coach position…White golfed for the Cougars from 1999-2003…assistant coach Chris Gilbert joined the WSU coaching staff this season…Gilbert graduated from Kansas in 2013 and turned pro the same year before accepting the assistant coach position.
