May 18, 2026 | Men's Golf
CORVALLIS, Ore. (May 18, 2026) – Senior Sam Renner fired an even-par, 71, while freshman Dylan Boenning posted a 1-over, 72, during the first round at the 2026 Corvallis Men's Golf Regional, played Monday at the par-71, 7,349-yard Trysting Tree Golf Club.
Renner, playing in his second-consecutive NCAA Regional, began his day with a birdie on the par-4 first. A bogey on the third put him back at even par until a double on Hole 7 and a bogey on 8 left him three-over at the turn.
His fortunes changed quickly with a birdie on the par-4, 10th hole, followed by three-straight pars left him at 2-over, with five holes to play. Back-to-back birdies on Holes 14 and 15 drew him back to even par. He just missed a third-straight birdie putt on 16 as he finished with three pars to end his round at even-par, 71, tied for 33rd overall.
Boenning, the first Cougar freshman to qualify as an individual for an NCAA Regional, started his round strong, posting birdies on Holes 1 and 4 to reach 2-under. After pars on Holes 5 and 6, back-to-back bogeys left him even-par at the turn.
He sandwiched a birdie on 11 around four pars before a stumble on 15 and 16 with a pair of bogeys before two more pars ended his round at 1-over, 72, tied for 55th overall.
Play continues Tuesday morning with Boenning teeing off at 9:20 and Renner at 9:42, both off Hole 1.
