EL MACERO, Calif. (April 11, 2026) – On a wet, windy day in Northern California, redshirt-junior Ben Borgida and sophomore Dylan Burcham each shot 1-over, 73, to lead Washington State during the second round at the 2026 El Macero Classic, played Saturday at the 7,138-yard, par 72, El Macero Country Club.
As a team, the Cougars finished the day with a second-round score of 7-over, 295, after battling difficult conditions due to the wind and rain. WSU moved up one spot and will enter Sunday's final round in fifth place, 14 strokes behind Pacific. First-day leader Pacific continues in the top spot at 2-under, 574, four shots ahead of Nevada, whose score of 3-under, 285 was the only sub-par round of the day, and Cal Baptist. There was one group that remained on the course when darkness suspended play on their final hole. Those teams were outside the Top 10 and did not impact the top 10 standings.
For the second-straight day, Borgida's 73 marked his second-straight round at 1-over. He began his day on fire, going birdie-eagle to be 3-under after two holes. After five bogeys over his next nine holes, Borgida rebounded with a birdie and six pars to close out his round. His 36-hole score of 2-over, 146, ties him for 16th overall.
Burcham rebounded Saturday following a 6-over, 78 on Friday, by matching Borgida's 73. Burcham was steady throughout his round with his only negative hole coming on the par-4, 6th, when he double-bogeyed the hole. He added a birdie on the par-5, 17th, and finished with 16 pars to finish with a two-round score of 7-over, 151, tied for 56th.
Sophomore Garrett Harrison, who attended high school roughly 30 miles from El Macero, fired a 2-over, 74, for the second-straight day. His round included two birdies and four bogeys as he finished the first two rounds at 4-over, 148, tied for 28th overall.
Freshman Dylan Boenning fired a 3-over, 75, Saturday, a round that was solid except for double-bogeys on holes 5 and 10. He had two birdies on his round, early on hole No. 2 and concluded his second 18 holes with a birdie on the par 5, 18th. His two-round score of 3-over, 145, has him tied for 20th entering Sunday's final round.
Senior Sam Renner had an up-and-down day, finishing with three birdies, four bogeys and a double en route to a 3-over, 75. Renner's two-round score of 5-over, 149, has him tied for 36th overall.
The final round at the El Macero Classic is set for Sunday morning. WSU is scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. tee time.
