Cougars Travel to Northern California for El Macero Classic

PULLMAN, Wash. (April 9, 2026) – The Washington State men's golf team competes in its final event before next month's West Coast Conference Championships when it heads south for the El Macero Classic, hosted by UC Davis, April 10-12, in Davis, Calif. The tournament will be held at the El Macero Country Club.
The Course and Tournament Format
The El Macero Classic will be a 54-hole event played at the par-72, 7,138-yard El Macero Country Club in Davis, Calif.
Teams will play 18 holes each day. Tee times each day start at 8 a.m. each day.

The Field
Along with Washington State and host UC Davis, the 19-team field includes Cal Baptist, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, Colorado State, Denver, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Nevada, Pacific, Sacramento State, St. Mary's, San Francisco, UC San Diego, UC Riverside, Seattle, UT Arlington and Wyoming.

Cougs in the Rankings
Over WSU's last two outings, the Desimone Invitational and The Goodwin, WSU has risen in the collegiate golf rankings, moving from 74 in early March to its current ranking of 60, a season-high for the Cougars. Additionally, in that same time frame, senior Sam Renner has gone from No. 221 to No. 103.
Last Time Out
In its last outing at The Goodwin, the Cougars finished the 54-hole tournament at 6-over, 846, tied for 10th overall. For the second-straight tournament, WSU finished ahead of six teams ranked in the top 50 nationally. Leading WSU was senior Sam Renner with a three-round score of 5-under, 205, placing him in a tie for 8th, his second Top-10 finish in as many tournaments.
WSU Golf
Head Coach Dustin White is in his 10th season leading his alma mater. The 2025-26 Cougar squad returns five members from last season, including senior Sam Renner, redshirt-junior Ben Borgida, and sophomores Tate Briggeman, Dylan Burcham and Garrett Harrison. Joining the Cougars this season is junior Ben Mulder and freshmen Dylan Boenning and Christian Flick.
