High Winds Cancel Final Round at The Prestige; Cougs Finish Tied for Eighth

LA QUINTA, Calif. (Feb. 18, 2026) – Due to high winds Wednesday, the final round at The Prestige golf tournament, played at the Greg Norman Course at PGA West, was cancelled. Players were on the course and play had already been suspended once during the morning round before a second suspension ended the event. The tournament standings reverted to the 36-hole leaderboard, with co-host Stanford taking the team title by three strokes over Texas Tech.
Washington State finished its 36-holes at 13-over, 581, tied for eighth with San Diego. In its second round on Tuesday, the Cougars raced up the leaderboard as it shot an even-par, 284, moving up 10 spots following the first round. Stanford captured the team title after finishing the first two rounds at 5-under, 563, three strokes ahead of Texas Tech.
The T-8th place finish is the highest by a Cougar squad in the four years participating at The Prestige, besting the T-9th finish in 2024. The Cougars finished ahead of four teams currently ranked in the Top 50 nationally: Wake Forest (25), Clemson (34),, Arkansas Little Rock (44) and Colorado 46.
Individually, freshman Dylan Boenning finished his two rounds tied for eighth individually at 1-under, 141, marking the first Top 10 finish of his Cougar career. Senior Sam Renner (+3, 145) finished T-29th, sophomore Dylan Burcham (+5, 147) was T-50th, redshirt-junior Ben Borgida (+7, 149) was T-62nd and freshman Christian Flick finished tied for 110th (+14, 156).
The Cougars are next in action Mar. 9-10 when they travel to Lake Merced, Calif. for the Desimone Invitational.
