Cougars Open Play at Battle For the Boot

FORT WORTH, Texas (Oct. 23, 2025) – Chisato Kanemaki and Yura Nakagawa posted a doubles win over Notre Dame as Washington State Cougar Tennis opened play Thursday at the Battle for the Boot, hosted by Texas Christian University.
Kanemaki and Nakagawa began the day with 6-4 victory over Notre Dame's Rylie Hanford and Mari-Louise Van Zyl. In singles action against SMU, the Cougars dropped both matches as SMU's Ellie Mireles defeated Kanemaki, 6-1, 6-4, while Allie Rittner got past Nakagawa 6-1, 6-2.
Play continues with singles and doubles action Friday at the Battle for the Boot.
