Alvarez Sande Opens Season at All-American Championships

CARY, N.C. – Washington State sophomore Eva Alvarez Sande began her 2023-24 season Saturday during the pre-qualifying round at the 2023 ITA All-American Championships at the Cary Tennis Park.

In her first-round match, Alvarez Sande dropped a straight-set match to Virginia's Sara Ziodato, 7-5, 6-1. The two battled early in the first until a late break of serve gave Ziodato the first set. In the second, the senior who led Virginia in wins last season, pulled away to secure the match.

Alvarez Sande, who also led WSU in wins during her freshman campaign, is next in action Sunday when she faces San Diego's Elizabeth Goldsmith in a consolation round match.
