Cougar Baseball Back in Top-25 for First Time Since 2010

TUCSON, Ariz. (March 13, 2023) – Washington State Baseball is back in the National Top-25 for the first time since 2010, appearing at No. 20 in the latest Collegiate Baseball Poll, College Baseball News announced Monday.

The Cougars went 3-1 last week with a home win over Seattle U Tuesday followed by taking two of three at No. 15 Oregon State over the weekend. WSU dropped Friday's series opener before claiming a 6-3 win Saturday and four pitchers combined for a one-hitter in Sunday's 3-1 victory to clinch their first series win in Corvallis since 2009.

Washington State enters the week 13-2 for its best start since 2006 and claimed their Pac-12 Conference opener for the first time since 2014. The Cougars finished the 2010 season ranked No. 21 by Collegiate Baseball and No. 24 by Baseball America. The Collegiate Baseball newspaper poll is the oldest college baseball poll. Its birth took place during the 1959 college baseball season.

WSU opens a four-game homestand with a nonconference game Wednesday against San Francisco at 4:05 p.m. followed by a weekend series against Oregon beginning Friday.
