Murphy, Kumhom Lead WSU During Day Two at Baylor Invitational

WACO, Texas (Oct. 29, 2022) – Fro the second-straight day, sophomore Maxine Murphy and junior Fifa Kumhom posted singles victories to lead Washington State Women's Tennis Team during the second day of play Saturday at the 2022 Baylor Invitational, contested at the Hurd Tennis Center on the Baylor campus.
For the second-straight day, Maxine Murphy and Fifa Kumhom provided the singles victories for Washington State. Murphy needed three sets to defeat Baylor's Liubov Kstenko, 0-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-4), while Kumhom dominated in a 6-3, 6-1 win over Houston's B. Cortijo Parreno.
In doubles action WSU picked up a pair of victories as Murphy and Eva Alvarez Sande posted a 7-5 victory over Houston's Azul Pedemont and Maria Dzemeshkevich, 7-5. WSU's Elyse Tse and Stefaniia Mikhailova found similar success against that same pair from Houston, winning 6-4.
Play concludes Sunday at the Baylor Invitational with a final round of singles.
