Miksovska Headlines Three Cougars Named to Tennis All-Academic Teams

SAN FRANCISCO – Aneta Miksovska was named to the 2017 Pac-12 Conference Women's Tennis All-Academic First Team, highlighting three Washington State student-athletes to be recognized, Commissioner Larry Scott announced Wednesday.

In addition to Miksovska, junior Barbora Michalkova was named to the second team while senior Victoria Matejevic garnered honorable mention accolades.

Miksovska, a sophomore from Stramberk, Czech Republic, completed her sophomore season with a 3.83 grade point average while studying kinesiology. She posted a 19-10 singles record this season, playing at both the No. 3 and No. 4 positions. Midway through conference play, she had back-to-back wins over nationally-ranked players Kelley Anderson of ASU (#88) and Paris Corley of Arizona (#113).

Michalkova, a junior from As, Czech Republic, conclude her junior year with a 3.49 GPA as a sport management major. Playing at the top of the WSU lineup, she posted 12 singles victories, including a win over Yuliya Shupenia of DePaul, the nation's 87th-ranked player.

Matejevic, a senior from Helsingborg, Sweden, graduated this past May with a degree in apparel, merchandising, design and textiles, and a 3.03 GPA. Playing in the middle of the Cougar lineup, she posted a combined 27 singles and doubles victories.

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA and be a starter or significant contributor.
