SEATTLE, Wash. - The Cougars started weekend play on a positive note as they blanked Seattle, 7-0, Friday afternoon at the Amy Yee Tennis Center.

With the win the Cougars improve to 14-11 on the season while Seattle falls to 6-17.

The day began with doubles as the Cougars captured all three doubles matches. Dajana Ognjenovic made quick work of their opponents at No. 3, defeating Gabriella Weissmann and Steffanie Mortera 8-1. Ksenia Googe and Lize Leenknecht secured the doubles point for Cougars at No. 2 after they defeated Corinne Wurden and Kristen James, 8-3. At No. 1, Andjela Kankaras and Olga Musilovich defeated Sarah Lucas and Lindsey Newman, 8-5.

In singles action, to Cougars continued to show their dominance. Kankaras began the Cougar attack at No. 3, defeating Weissmann 6-2, 6-0. With the win, Kankaras ties Erica Perkins at fifth on the all-time singles victories list with 87 wins. Musilovich followed shortly after, defeating Wurden 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4. Luzina posted similar stats in her match at No. 2 and secured victory for the Cougars after defeating Lambert 6-1, 6-1.

Googe defeated Newman 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1. With the win, Googe surpasses assistant coach Ekaterina Burduli on the all-time singles list and now sits alone in third with 91. Charlotte Koning extended the Cougar lead after she defeated Lucas, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5. Ognjenovic wrapped up play for the Cougars at No. 6, defeating Mortera 6-2, 6-0. The win puts Ognjenovic at 4-2 in dual match play this season.

The Cougars will conclude dual match play Saturday at noon when they face No. 48 Washington. The match will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks on a tape delay basis, airing Sunday at 5 p.m.
