GENERAL: Played two years of varsity baseball at both Kamiakin High and Connell High…coached at Kamiakin by Rex Easley...SOPHOMORE: First team all-league for Connell High…hit .379 with eight home runs…was the MVP at the 16-year-old Babe Ruth regional…summer team placed fifth in the Babe Ruth World Series...JUNIOR: In his first year at Kamiakin hit .440…named second team All-Big 9…voted as teams' most inspirational player...SENIOR: Hit .400 while earning first team all-league honors as a third baseman…named to the All-State team…MVP of the annual Washington-Oregon All-star game…voted as Kamiakin's most inspirational player for second time in consecutive seasons…in summer ball for the Columbia Basin Riverdogs hit .430 with 17 home runs…MVP of 18-year-old Babe Ruth state tournament…team won the Babe Ruth World Series held in Manteo, North Carolina.
BAILIE'S WASHINGTON STATE CAREER
FRESHMAN (1998-99): Enrolled at WSU in August...redshirt year...played with the Yakima Chiefs in the Pacific International League (PIL) in the summer and was named to the league all-star team...led Chiefs in hits, RBI, doubles and home runs.
RS-FRESHMAN (1999-00): Established himself as the team's third baseman with 29 starts at the position...also started 19 games at first base...started the season with a 14 game-hitting streak...had five multi-hit games during that streak...finished the season with 15 multi-hit games...led the team in home runs (12), RBI (35), on base percentage (.450), slugging percentage (.582) and hit by pitches (16)...his 12 home runs tied a WSU freshman record…his 4-for-4 game against Texas-Arlington was a single-game high for hits...had a season high two home runs and eight total bases against Cal State-Northridge (March 17)...both were individual game highs for the Cougs last season...was one of four Cougs to garner honorable mention All-Pacific-10 team...also was selected to the 2000 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American honorable mention team by Collegiate Baseball...here's how he hit against Pac-10 opponents: ARIZ .167 (2/12), ASU .111 (1/9), CAL .231 (3/13), OSU .321 (9/28), Stanford .375 (3/8), UCLA .400 (2/5), USC .167 (2/12) Washington .333 (5/15)...his monthly hitting averages: January .250 (1/4), February .468 (22/47), March .214 (12/56), April .289 (13/45), May .312 (10/32)
