PULLMAN, Wash. -
Washington State had little trouble in posted a 7-0 victory over Lewis-Clark State Saturday afternoon at the Simmelink Tennis Courts at Hollingbery Fieldhouse.
With the win the Cougars improve to 12-7 overall while the Warriors fall to 3-5.
In doubles play the Cougars wasted no time clinching the opening point. At No. 2 Liudmila Vasilieva and Ksenia Googe secured the point with an 8-2 win over Dorothy Chong and Livia Blasque at No. 1. At No. 3 doubles, Erin Troedson and Lize Leenknecht posted an 8-3 win over Deanri Human and Florencia Martina, 8-3.
The Cougars quickly extended their lead in singles play to 2-0 as Koning posted a 6-1, 6-0 win over Hewett at No. 4. Googe followed shortly thereafter as she defeated Blasque 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 while Luzina clinched the team victory with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Oliveira at No. 3.
Vasilieva increased her career wins total to 104 as she recorded a 6-0, 6-2 win over Chong at No. 1, increasing the lead to 5-0. Leenknecht had no problem in dispatching Martina, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6 while Ognjenovic closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Human at No. 5.
The Cougars return to action Friday when they host Arizona beginning at 11 a.m.
