WSU Beats No. 73 BYU

PROVO, Utah- The Washington State University tennis team continued its successful start to 2011 with a win over No. 73 BYU Friday afternoon.
WSU gained the first point of the match with two doubles victories. No. 2 Ksenia Googe and Andjela Kankaras defeated Elle Carney and Elizaveta Ezhova 8-4. Elisabeth Fournier and Lea Jansen beat Aubrey Paul and Andie Young 8-6 at No. 3.
In singles action, the Cougars won four matches. No. 1 Fournier beat Megan Price 1-6, 6-1, 7-6. At No. 2 Liudmila Vasilieva defeated Elle Carney 7-5, 7-6. Olga Musilovich beat Desiree Tran 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4. At No. 5 Kankaras defeated Elizaveta Ezhova 7-6, 6-2.
The Cougars will be back at home next weekend to host Santa Clara and Kansas Friday and Saturday, respectively.
