Three Cougars Named to West Coast Conference All-Academic Teams

SAN BRUNO, Calif. (May 1, 2025) – Three Washington State Tennis student-athletes, led by first-team selections Ben Borgida and Franklin Lydra, were named to 2025 West Coast Conference Men's Golf All-Academic teams, the conference announced Thursday.

Borgida and Lydra were named to the WCC All-Academic Team, while Drayton Joseph was named WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention.

Borgida, a redshirt-sophomore from Shoreline, Wash., carries a 3.94 GPA as a biology major. A President's Honor Roll member, last season Borgida was named to the Pac-12 Academic Spring Honor Roll and College Sports Communications Academic Al-District team. This season he has played in 10 events, posting a 73.27 scoring average, with three rounds in the 60s.

Lydra, a senior from Melbourne, Australia, boasts a 3.73 grade point average as an accounting and management information systems major. A President's Honor roll member, Lydra is a two-time Pac-12 Academic Spring Honor Roll recipient. This year, Lydra has competed in six tournaments, posting a 75.13 scoring average, with a low round of 67 at the season-opening Palouse Collegiate.

Joseph, a fifth year from San Clemente, Calif., carries a 3.24 grade point average as a sport management major. Joseph was a 2023 Pac-12 Academic Spring Honor Roll member who this year posted a 75.04 scoring average through eight tournaments. He posted a low round of 67 at the season-opening Palouse Collegiate en route to a Top-25 finish.
