FAIRFIELD, Calif. (April 26, 2025) – For the second-straight day, Cougar golfers
Sam Renner and
Dylan Burcham finished under par to lead Washington State Men's Golf at the 2025 West Coast Conference Championships Saturday at the 6,570-yard, par-72 Green Valley Country Club.
As a team, the Cougars posted its best round of the event, shooting a 4-under, 284, as a team. WSU finished 10th overall with a three-round total of 1-over, 865, while Pepperdine (-46) ran away with a 12-shot victory during stroke play over Loyola Marymount (-34) with Santa Clara (-26) finishing third. Pepperdine, LMU, Santa Clara, along with Pacific, advance to Sunday's Match Play bracket to determine the WCC champion.
Burcham, a freshman, shot the low round of the tournament for WSU Saturday, posting a 4-under 68. His round included six birdies against two bogeys, as he finished the 54-hole event at 5-under, 211, tied for 19th overall. Renner, a junior, fired his best round of the championships with a 3-under, 69, giving him a three-round total of 5-under, 211, tying with Burcham for 19th overall. Renner's round featured five birdies as he collected his eighth Top-20 finish this season.
For his second-straight round, freshman
Garrett Harrison shot a 1-over, 73, a round that featured three birdies on the back side as he completed his first conference tournament with a 54-hole score of 5-over, 221, tied for 42nd overall. Redshirt-sophomore
Ben Borgida posted a 2-over, 74, with five birdies on his round. Borgida finished his first WCC Championship at 6-over, 222, tied for 44th.
Freshman
Tate Bruggeman, who entered the lineup after the first round, shot a 6-over, 78.
The Cougars will find out any postseason opportunities next week when the NCAA hosts it's Men's Golf Selection Show Wednesday, April 30.
