CAREFREE, Ariz. (April 28, 2024) – Washington State men's golf played the final round of the 2024 Pac-12 Men's Golf Championships on Sunday, finishing in 11th place with a four-round score of 98-over, 1,518 at the par 71, 7,203-yard Desert Forest Golf Club.

"It was a tough week," said Head Coach Dustin White. "We knew the course would test all parts of the game and then the wind just made it that much harder. The guys battled and did their best to minimize mistakes. We got better each round and did a nice job of adapting to the conditions. While it might not look all that great on paper, the guys played hard and really hung in playing 5-count-5 the last 36 holes."

WSU finished round four at 16-over, 371 behind an even-par day from Sam Renner. Arizona State won the tournament at 27-over, 1,447, and Stanford's Karl Vilips was the individual champion at 2-under, 282.

Fifth year Pono Yanagi ended the tournament at 15-over, 299 to finish in a tie for 34th. His final round ended with a 1-over score of 72 using a birdie, a bogey and seven pars to go even on the back nine before three bogeys and then an eagle on his final hole put him back up to 1-over for the day.

Senior Drayton Joseph finished tied for 52nd at 21-over, 305. He was 6-over through his opening nine holes, but settled in on the front nine where he rattled off eight pars to end the round 7-over, 78.

Senior Nate Plaster went 22-over, 306 to place tied for 54th in the championships. A bogey and a double bogey along with seven pars on the back nine put him 3-over through nine holes of round four. A pair of birdies helped him to a 2-over front nine as he ended the round at 5-over, 76.

Redshirt freshman Ben Borgida finished the championships at 26-over, 310 to place 62nd. He birdied his third hole of the day to quickly move 1-under before a bogey on hole 15 put him even on the back nine. He parred seven more holes the rest of the way along with a bogey and a double bogey to finish round four at 3-over, 74.

Sophomore Sam Renner finished with a four-round score of 29-over, 313 to place tied for 63rd. After a bogey on hole one of the fourth round, he rattled off three birdies over his next six holes to move to 2-under through seven holes before making the turn at 1-under. A birdie, two bogeys and six pars over his final nine holes put him at a even-par, 71.

Senior Preston Bebich shot a 5-over, 76 in each round one and two, but didn't play rounds three and four.

The Cougars will have to wait for the 2024 NCAA DI Men's Golf Selection Show on Wednesday, May 1 at 11 a.m. to find out what's next to come for the team with NCAA Regional play set for May 13-15.
