Cougars Finish Fifth in Final Event of Fall Season

STOCKTON, Calif. (Oct. 16, 2024) – Washington State Men's Golf fired a final-round 5-under par to finish fifth at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational Wednesday, played on the par-71, 6,566-yard Stockton Golf and Country Club.

The final round of 5-under was WSU's lowest of the three-round event as it concluded with a total score of 9-under, 843. The University of San Diego finished atop the leaderboard at 32-under, four strokes ahead of host Pacific and 11 in front of third-place California.

Freshman Dylan Burcham led the Cougars following each round, concluding with a 2-under, 69, giving him a three-round total of 6-under, 207, tied for 11th overall. Burcham's round included six birdies en route to his best finish as a Cougar. Junior Sam Renner continued his torrid fall campaign, firing a two-under 69 to finish the tournament at 4-under, 209, tied for 16th overall. Renner's card included three birdies and one bogey as he fired his ninth-consecutive round under par over his last three events.

Redshirt-sophomore Ben Borgida posted an even-par, 71, on his final 18 holes, recording two birdies and two bogeys along with 14 pars. Borgida's three-round score of even-par, 213, placed him tied for 33rd overall. Freshman Tate Bruggeman also finished his final 18 holes at even-par, 71, giving him a three-day score of 2-over, 215, tied for 39th.

Graduate student Jakob Chicoyne had his best round of the tournament Wednesday, carding a 1-under, 70, which included five birdies and four bogeys. Chicoyne finished the event at 5-over, 218, tied for 57th overall. Freshman Garrett Harrison, playing as an individual, shot a 1-over, 72, giving him a three-round score of 2-over, 215, tied with teammate Bruggeman for 39th overall.
