Christian Yanagi is two-strokes back from reaching the top-50 on the player leaderboard after two rounds of play at the 44th John Burns Intercollegiate. As a team, the Cougars finished out the second round by carding 12-over (300) as they open the final 18 holes at the Wailua Golf Course tomorrow afternoon, Feb. 22, in 21st on the team leaderboard.
Yanagi shares a tie for 68th as he made a two-over, 74 in his second round after making four birdies on the day. Yanagi sits as the Cougars top golfer at five-over, 149 with 18 holes remaining in the tournament.
"The guys fought hard today" head coach
Dustin White said. "We need to come out tomorrow with the same intensity and work to put together a solid final round. We will compete hard until we have no more holes to play."
Freshmen
Tianyu Wu and
Yuya Eguchi both sit in a tie for 88th. Eguchi had the best round of the day for the Cougs, making a one-over, 73 in his second round. Wu made four birdies on the day, helping him finish three-over on the day. Eguchi and Wu sit at eight-over, 152. Freshman
Clayton Thatcher shot a six-over 78 and is currently tied for 113th.
The final round of the 44th John Burns Intercollegiate will resume Saturday morning, Feb. 22. The shotgun start will begin at 10 a.m. PT. Live scoring will be available
