Armstrong and Bayley Pick up All-Academic Honors

Sophomore AJ Armstrong was named to the first team, while junior Derek Bayley picked up honorable mention.
SAN FRANCISCO – Washington State University men's golf sophomore AJ Armstrong and junior Derek Bayley were named Pac-12 All-Academic First Team and Honorable Mention, respectively, conference commissioner Larry Scott announced Tuesday.Â
A native of St. Albert, Alberta, Armstrong is the second Cougar to pick up first team all-academic honors in the last three seasons. He is undeclared with a 3.88 grade-point average. On the green, Armstrong played in 12 of the 13 tournaments on the season, maintaining a scoring average of 74.50. He had four top-30 finishes, including eighth at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate, Sept. 12-13.Â
Bayley (Rathdrum, Idaho) is receiving all-academic honorable mention honors for the second-straight year, majoring in journalism with a 3.15 GPA. He played in 12 of 13 events for the Cougars, leading the team with a scoring average of 74.01. He had a team-best five top-25 finishes, including three top-10, as a junior in 2017.Â
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and participate in at least half of their team's scheduled regular season events.
