Desert Mountain Intercollegiate up Next for Cougars

The men's golf team will tee off at Scottsdale, Ariz., March 4-5.
THIS WEEK: The Washington State men's golf team heads to Scottsdale, Ariz., March 4-5, to compete at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate.
THE TOURNAMENT: The two-day tournament will take place at Scottsdale's Outlaw Course, a 7,107-yard track at a par-72…teams will play 36 holes Saturday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. MT/7 a.m. PT…the final 18 holes will be played Sunday beginning at 7:30 a.m. PT.
THE FIELD: Joining WSU and host-school Michigan in the 12-team field will be Alabama, Indiana, Kansas, Marquette, Northwestern, Purdue, Saint Mary's San Diego, Tennessee, and Utah.
REPRESENTING WASHINGTON STATE: Competing for the Cougars will be senior Nick Mandell, junior Brian Mogg, sophomore AJ Armstrong, and juniors Zach Anderson and Derek Bayley.
LAST TIME ON THE GREEN: In its best performance of the spring season, Washington State finished fourth (+4, 868) ahead of several ranked opponents at the Southwestern Invitational, Apr. 27-28…senior Nick Mandell recorded his second top-10 finish of the season tying for eighth place (-3, 213)…juniors Derek Bayley and Zach Anderson finished in the top-25, tying for 17th (+2, 218) and 22nd (+4, 220), respectively…sophomore AJ Armstrong shot 8-over through three rounds and tied for 43rd (224)…junior Brian Mogg tied for 46th (+9, 225) in his first spring-season appearance.
COACHING STAFF: The team is led by first-year head coach Dustin White, who was an assistant coach at WSU before accepting the head coach position…White golfed for the Cougars from 1999-2003…assistant coach Chris Gilbert joined the WSU coaching staff this season…Gilbert graduated from Kansas in 2013 and turned pro the same year before accepting the assistant coach position.
