Sam Renner, Dylan Boenning Selected for 2026 NCAA Championships
May 06, 2026 | Men's Golf
PULLMAN, Wash. (May 6, 2026) – Washington State senior Sam Renner and freshman Dylan Boenning were both selected to play in the 2026 NCAA Men's Golf Division I Corvallis Regional, played at the Trysting Tree Golf Course, May 18-20, 2026, the NCAA announced Wednesday.
It is the first time WSU has had multiple NCAA Regional individual selections.
Â
Renner, from Bend, Ore., repeats as an NCAA qualifier after participating in the Bremerton, (Wash.) Regional last season while Boenning becomes just the fifth different WSU player to qualify for an NCAA Regional, and first freshman to do so as an individual. Renner and Boenning join a select group of Cougar golfers who have participated in an NCAA Regional, Ryan Witz (2006), current WSU Women's Golf Head Coach Kevin Tucker (2009, 2010) and Pono Yanagi (2023).
"I'm excited for Sam and Dylan to compete in Corvallis in a couple weeks," said WSU Head Coach Dustin White. "If we missed out on making it as a team, this would be the next best scenario. They have both played solid, consistent golf throughout the season and I'm glad they get the opportunity to keep showcasing that. As a group, we're obviously disappointed we didn't make it - but I know the other six guys will be really supportive and cheering them on in Corvallis. They'll be ready to go and I'm looking forward to seeing more good golf out of both of them."
Renner, who set WSU's single-season scoring average last year at 70.67, is having another tremendous season with a 71.14 season scoring average, second-best in program history. In 29 rounds this season, the senior from Bend, Ore. had registered 11 scores in the 60's and 15 rounds at par or better. He has four Top-10 finishes in his 10 events, including a season-best T-third at the Saint Mary's Invitational and the Desimone Invitational, along with eight Top-25 finishes. This marks the second-straight season Renner has been named to the All-WCC Men's Golf Team.
In his first season in Pullman after arriving from Phoenix, Ariz., Boenning has posted a WSU freshman single-season record 71.76 scoring average through last week's WCC Championships, the eighth-best overall single-season average in school history. At last week's event, Boenning led WSU by finishing tied for fourth, a season-best, after he went 5-under, 208, with all three rounds at par or better. For the season, Boenning recorded three Top-10 and five Top-25 finishes.
Â
Both will be heading to the Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis, Ore. to play in the NCAA Corvallis Regional, hosted by Oregon State University.
