Biography

WSU CAREER: Competed in the fall as a SENIOR (2019-20) before getting sidelined by an injury…in the fall opener, teamed up with Rosalina Torcivia to finish fourth at the Burnaby Lake Small Boat Invitational…as a JUNIOR (2017-18), rowed with the varsity eight against Oregon State taking first place in their race helping the Cougars win their ninth-straight Winchell Cup…rowed with the varsity eight at the Clemson Invitational…finished two seconds behind No. 9 Virginia, securing second place for their race and sixth overall…the varsity eight won its second consecutive race against Gonzaga for the Fawley Cup…rowed with the varsity eight at the Pac-12 Championships taking fifth in their race after being seeded No. 15…the varsity eight competed in the second C/D semifinal at the NCAA Championships and took second in their race…as a SOPHOMORE (2016-17), competed with the varsity eight in the fall season…helped WSU take second place at Head of the Lake, finishing behind Washington…did not compete in spring…as a FRESHMAN (2015-16), competed with the second varsity eight, before moving to the varsity eight at the Clemson Invite…stayed with that crew throughout the rest of the season…started Cougar spring racing career with a victory at No. 19 Gonzaga in the second varsity eight…placed second in the second varsity eight behind No. 14 USC on day one of the San Diego Crew Classic…continued to finish sixth in the grand final on day two in a tightly-contested heat…competed with the second varsity eight for the last time on the season at No. 8 Washington…moved to the varsity eight at the Clemson Invite…made debut helping crew to a second-place finish behind No. 3 Virginia in heat three…placed second just behind No. 10 Michigan later in the day during second-session heat-two action…battled closely with No. 4 Ohio State on the final day, challenging the Buckeyes with a second-place finish…while competing with the varsity eight, contributed to WSU’s sweep over Oregon State by winning the Crawford Perpetual Plate…team won its seventh-consecutive regatta against Oregon State for the Winchell Cup…same varsity eight crew placed fifth at the Pac-12 Championships, and team finished in the top four for a second-straight year…advanced to and won the ‘C’ Final at the 2016 NCAA Rowing Championships, defeating five other varsity eight crews for a 13th-place finish…team finished 12th overall.

PRIOR TO WSU: Competed in hockey, soccer and tennis at St. Peter’s School at Cambridge, New Zealand…in 2014, was a U18 quad gold medalist, U18 double silver medalist and New Zealand rowing trialist…in 2013, named most promising oarsman…in 2012, tabbed most improved oarsman and most promising junior hockey player.

PERSONAL: Born Jessica Brougham, February of 1997 at Wanganui, New Zealand…father, Wayne and mother Lynair…brother Jared…enjoys music and playing sports…majoring in criminal justice.
