Cougars Conclude Racing at the Fawley Cup

COLTON, Wash. (April 11, 2026) – Washington State women's rowing completed competition at the Fawley Cup, Saturday morning. The Cougs finished the day with a pair of dominant wins in both the 2V8 and the 3V8, finishing ahead of Gonzaga.

"Great job by Gonzaga today," said Head Coach Jane LaRiviere. "It was a fantastic race in the 1V and we came out slightly on the wrong end. I think we learned a lot and we're really looking forward to getting down to Sacramento and racing in the Big 10 next weekend."

The Cougs opened the morning with their 1V8 shell placing second in the Fawley Cup 8+ in a time of 7:23.04. They finished right behind Gonzaga who finished in 7:20.88.

WSU had a similar finish in the 1V4 with the team finishing second in 8:09.51 right behind Gonzaga's 8:07.15.

Cougs took first in their 2V8 shell in a time of 7:12.87, out-rowing Gonzaga's 7:25.87 time. Washington State's boat led for most of the race and ended up roughly 13 seconds ahead of Gonzaga.
Wazzu also won the 3V8, placing first in a time of 7:35.83, over 13 seconds ahead of Gonzaga's 7:48.96.
WSU placed second in the 2V4 finishing with a 8:31.24 time behind Gonzaga's 8:16.10.

The day concluded with the Cougars finishing second in the 4V8 in 8:20.62 behind Gonzaga's 7:50.15.

Up Next
The Cougars will head back to California next weekend to race in the Big Ten Invite, April 18 and 19 on Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif.
