12 Rowers Earn CRCA Scholar-Athlete Award

PULLMAN, Wash. (June 5, 2025) – Washington State women's rowing had 12 earn the CRCA Scholar-Athlete Award for their academic and athletic excellence in 2026.
Elle Donohue – Biology, 3.79
Donohue raced in six events for the Cougars and was named 2025-26 WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention. She had second-place finishes in the 2V4 at the Big Ten Invite (4/18) and in the duals against Gonzaga (4/11) and Oregon State (5/2). She placed fourth in both the 2V8 and 2V4 at the Big Ten Invite (4/18-19) while also having a pair of fifth-place finishes in the 2V8 at the San Diego Crew Classic (3/28-29). In head racing, Donohue placed second in the 2V4 at the Head of the Spokane (10/18) and third in the 3V8 at the Head of the Lake (11/2).
Sam Eden – Psychology, 3.87
Eden competed in all eight events for the Cougars in her senior season and was named to the 2025-26 For Stars Network Preseason Watchlist, and was WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention. She helped the 2V8 place first in its day-one heat at the WCC Championships (5/15) and had first-place finishes in the 1V8 at the Head of the Spokane (10/18) and in the 2V8 at the Big Ten Invite (4/18). Eden placed second with the 2V8 at the WCC Championships Grand Final (5/16) and had additional second-place finishes in the 2V8 at the dual against Oregon State (5/2) and in the 1V8 at the dual against Gonzaga. She finished fourth in the 2V8 at both morning sessions of the Big Ten Invite (4/18-19), and fifth in the 1V8 both days of the San Diego Crew Classic (3/28-29).
Ava Jared – Kinesiology, 3.80
Jared competed in six events for the Cougars and was named 2025-26 WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention. She saw second-place finishes with the 1V4 at each the dual against Gonzaga (4/11) and the dual at Oregon State (5/2), as well as at the Big Ten Invite (4/18). She also finished second with the 3V8 at the Head of the Spokane (10/18), placed fourth in the 1V4 both days of the Big Ten Invite (4/18-19) and fifth in the 2V8 both days of the San Diego Crew Classic (3/28-29).
Lis Ana Johansen – Psychology, 3.95
Johansen raced in all eight events for the Cougars in her true freshman season, and was named to the 2025-26 WCC All-Academic Team after being selected to the For Stars Network Preseason Watchlist. She helped the 2V8 to a first-place finish in its day-one heat of the WCC Championships (5/15) and then placed second in the 2V8 at the WCC Championships Grand Final (5/16) Johansen helped the 1V8 to second-place finishes at the dual at Oregon State (5/2) and the dual against Gonzaga (4/11), and saw third, fourth and fifth place finishes in the 1V8 at the Big Ten Invite (4/18-19). She finished in fifth place in the 1V8 both days of the San Diego Crew Classic (3/28-29).
Elle Kadir – Kinesiology, 3.64
Kadir competed in six events for the Cougars and helped the 3V8 to a first-place victory in the dual against Gonzaga (4/11). She placed second in the 3V4 at the dual at Oregon State (5/2) and finished second in the 2V4, and fourth in each the 2V8 and 2V4 at the Big Ten Invite (4/18-19). Kadir had a trio of third-place finishes in head racing, placing third in the 2V8 at the Head of the Spokane (10/18), the 1V4 at the Head of the American (10/25), and the 3V8 at the Head of the Lake (11/2).
Wendy Kissinger – Architectual Studies, 3.80
Kissinger competed in seven events for the Cougars and was named 2025-26 WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention. She placed second in the 2V4 in both heat racing and the Grand Finals at the WCC Championships (5/15-16). Kissinger saw second-place finishes in the 1V4 at the dual at Oregon State (5/2), the day-one evening heat at the Big Ten Invite (4/18), and the dual against Gonzaga. She had another pair of fourth-place finishes in the 1V4 at the Big Ten Invite (4/18-19) and two fifth-place finishes in the 1V4 at the San Diego Crew Classic.
Phoebe Nagy – Mechanical Engineering, 3.67
Nagy competed in all eight races for the Cougars and was named 2025-26 WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention. She placed first in the 1V4 in its day-one heat at the WCC Championships before a second-place finish in the Grand Finals (5/15-16). Nagy saw a second-place finish and a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 1V4 at the Big Ten Invite (4/18-19), and also placed second in the 1V4 at both the dual against Gonzaga (4/11) and at Oregon State (5/2). She twice finished fifth in the 1V4 at the San Diego Crew Classic (3/28-29), and in head racing, placed third in the 2V8 at each the Head of the Spokane (10/18) and Head of the Lake (11/2), and sixth in the 2V8 at the Head of the American (10/25).
Jaeve Proberts – Art, 3.63
Proberts raced in all eight events for the Cougars, was named to the 2025-26 All-WCC Team and earned WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention. She helped the 1V8 to a pair of third-place finishes at the WCC Championships (5/15-16) and had third, fourth and fifth place finishes in the 1V8 at the Big Ten Invite (4/18-19). The senior placed first in the 2V8 at the dual against Gonzaga (4/11) and second in the 1V8 at Oregon State (5/2). She also finished first in the 1V8 at the Head of the Spokane (10/18) and put up a pair of fifth-place finishes in the 1V8 at the San Diego Crew Classic (3/28-29).
Kate Schroeder – Kinesiology, 3.86
Schroeder competed in five events for the Cougars and placed first in the 1V4 in its day-one heat at the WCC Championships before a second-place finish in the Grand Final (5/15-16). She had a pair of first-place finishes in the 3V8, first in the dual against Gonzaga (4/11) and then at Oregon State (5/2), where she also placed second in the 2V4. Schroeder also placed second in the 3V8 at the Head of the Spokane (10/18).
Elsie Talbot – Computer Engineering, 3.77
Talbot raced in all eight events for the Cougars after being named to the 2025-26 For Stars Network Watchlist and then earned WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention. She helped the 1V8 to a pair of third-place finishes at the WCC Championships (5/15-16) and finished first in the 1V8 at the Head of the Spokane (10/18). Talbot had second place finishes in the 1V8 against Gonzaga (4/11) and in the 2V8 at Oregon State (5/2), and saw third, fourth and fifth-place finishes in the 1V8 at the Big Ten Invite (4/18-19). Talbot put up a pair of fifth-place finishes in the 1V8 at the San Diego Crew Classic (3/28-29) and finished third in the 1V8 at both the Head of the American (10/25) and the Head of the Lake (11/2).
Harriet Thompson – General Humanities, 3.80
After being named to the 2025-26 WCC Preseason Team, Thompson competed in all eight events for the Cougars on her way to being named to the All-WCC Team and WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention. She helped the 1V8 to a pair of third-place finishes at the WCC Championships (5/15-16) and finished first in the 1V8 at the Head of the Spokane (10/18). Thompson placed second in the 1V8 both against Gonzaga (4/11) and at Oregon State (5/2), and saw third, fourth and fifth-place finishes in the 1V8 at the Big Ten Invite (4/18-19). She put up a pair of fifth-place finishes in the 1V8 at the San Diego Crew Classic (3/28-29), and also finished third in the 1V8 at both the Head of the American (10/25) and the Head of the Lake (11/2).
Megan van Leeuwen – Land Management, 3.75
Van Leeuwen competed in all eight events for the Cougars and was named 2025-26 WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention. She helped the 1V8 to a pair of third-place finishes at the WCC Championships (5/15-16) and finished first in the 2V8 at the Big Ten Invite (4/18) and against Gonzaga (4/11). Van Leeuven also placed first in the 1V8 at the Head of the Spokane (10/18) and placed second in the 1V8 at Oregon State (5/2). She had a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 2V8 at the Big Ten Invite (4/18-19) and a pair of fifth-place finishes in the 2V8 at the San Diego Crew Classic (3/28-29), and also finished third in the 1V8 at both the Head of the Lake (11/2) and the Head of the American (10/25).
