STOCKTON, Calif. –Washington State Men's Golf fired a 12-under 276, the second-best round of the day, while senior Preston Bebich finished tied for second overall, following the final day at the 2023 Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational Wednesday on the par-72, 7,278-yard Reserve at Spanos Park course.

"It was a nice way to end our fall campaign," said WSU Head Coach Dustin White. "We played some good golf this week and saved our best round for last. Preston having a chance to win was awesome and should give him a big boost of confidence.

"We made some good strides this fall and have a lot to look forward to next spring," White continued. "We'll hit the refresh button, dig into some stats, get stronger in the gym and be ready in January. We've got a great schedule and this group works hard, so I know we'll keep the energy and competitiveness alive in the offseason."

WSU, which entered Wednesday in fourth place, caught fire on the back nine, shooting 9-under as a team to move up one spot in the final standings. The Cougars, who finished at 28-under, 863, finished tied for third and trailed winner Grand Canyon by nine strokes and second-place Loyola Marymount by one.

Bebich led the charge as he ended with his best round of the tournament, a 6-under, 66, to finish the three-round event at 13-under, 203, one stroke out of medalist honors. Bebich was masterful much of the day, totaling seven birdies against one bogey. His 203, 54-hole score tied for the sixth-lowest in program history while his 13-under-par is the third-lowest score to par at WSU.

Sophomore Sam Renner posted another strong tournament, this time firing a bogey-free round of 5-under, 67, including four birdies on the back nine. Renner ended his three days with an 11-under, 205, tied for sixth overall. His three-round score of 205 is tied for the 13th-lowest while his 11-under to par is ninth-lowest in school history.

Fifth-year senior Pono Yanagi mixed in four birdies, four bogeys and an eagle on the par-5 16th as he completed his round at 2-under, 70, giving him a three-day score of 5-under, 211, tied for 21st.

Senior Drayton Joseph had a birdie and two bogeys before finishing his round with 10-straight pars to end his day at 1-over, 73. Joseph, who led the field with 41 pars on the event, conclude his tournament at 3-over, 219, tied for 54th. Senior Jaden Cantafio, who started out 5-over on the front, regained his form by shooting 1-under on the back side to end his round at 4-over, 76. Cantafio finished tied for 77th at 9-over, 225.

Senior Nate Plaster, playing as an individual at the Pacific Invitational, shot a final-round of 6-over, 78, which included three birdies.

The 2023 Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational concludes the fall portion of the Cougars' 2023-24 schedule. WSU will next be in action. Feb. 15-17 at the John Burns Intercollegiate in Lihue, Hawaii.
