Cougars Post Best Finish at Conference Championships

ROLLING HILLS ESTATES, Calif. - Senior Zach Anderson wrapped up his final year with the Cougars with his best ever finish at the Pac-12 Championships finishing at nine-under for the four rounds. Anderson's eighth place finish was his best finish since a fifth place finish at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate where he came in at -5. Overall, Anderson posted a four round total of 275(-9), replacing his 24th place finish at a sophomore years as his best ever conference championship finish.

Anderson posted a 70(-1) in the fourth round of action, counting a pair of birdies to make his score.

As a team, the Cougars came in at seventh, which is their best finish at the Pac-12 Championships. The result ties for best finish at the Pac-10 Championships where the team took seventh in the 2001 and 1991 tournaments. The team scored their second lowest round of the tournament on the final day, tallying an even-par, 355. The Cougars finished by the four round tournament at 1412(-8) overall, leading eighth place finisher No.37 Arizona by 10 strokes.

Senior Derek Bayley, and juniors AJ Armstrong and Grant Cole each went one-under par for the four rounds, all tying for 23rd with a 283.

Cole moved up 10 positions from the previous day, firing off his second-straight 68(-3) of the tournament. Cole scored a 3 on the par-5, 15th hole, posting the Cougars third eagle of the week.

Bayley proved steady throughout the final round, ending the day with 16 pars to put up an even 71.

Senior Brian Mogg tied for 45th with a 288(+4). Mogg matched Bayley with his own 71 in the fourth round. Over the final two rounds, Mogg played the course on par.Â
