Men's Golf to Commence Spring Season in Hawaii

THIS WEEK: The WSU men's golf team will tee off spring season on February 25-27 with the John Burns Collegiate in Lihu'e, Hawaii.

THE COURSE: The collegiate will be held at the Wailua Golf Course, and will consist of 54 holes over three days of competition. The teams will play 18 holes each day, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start each day. The course is a par 72, and boasts 6,991 yards.

THE FIELD: The field for the collegiate is large, consisting of 20 teams including Washington State. Participating teams include Arizona, BYU, CSUN, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Hawaii, Long Beach State, New Mexico, North Carolina, Northern Colorado, Saint Mary's, Texas A&M, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, UNC-Wilmington, UNLV, Utah, UTEP, and Virginia.

REPRESENTING WASHINGTON STATE: Competing for the Cougars will be seniors Derek Bayley and Brian Mogg, junior AJ Armstrong, and sophomores Daniel Kolar and Nicklaus Chiam.

LAST TIME ON THE GREEN: The Cougars finished in 17th in the Saint Mary's Invitational on November 8. The team finished with a three round score of 883 (+31). Sophomore Daniel Kolar shined on the third day, going five-under par with a 67. The score moved him from 40th after the second round, up to tie for 20th.

COACHING STAFF: The men's golf team is led by second-year head coach Dustin White, a WSU alum who golfed for the Cougars from 1999-2003.
