Cougars Head Back to Colorado for Paintbrush Invitational

Washington State will compete in its third tournament of the fall.
THIS WEEK: Washington State men's golf returns to Colorado for the Paintbrush Invitational, Monday through Tuesday, Oct. 8-9, at the Colorado Golf Club at Parker, Colo….the Cougars will be returning to the course this week after taking the last week off from competition.
THE COURSE: The Championship Course will play at Par 72 each day, with a 7,465 yard track Monday and 7,513 yards Tuesday…the course hosted the 2010 Senior PGA Championship…the first and second rounds will take place Monday, Oct. 8…the final round will take place Tuesday, Oct. 9.Â
THE FIELD: WSU will be joined by host Denver, as well as South Dakota, Colorado, Colorado State, Northern Colorado, Loyola Marymount, Wyoming, Oregon, UTEP, Pacific, WSU, George Washington.Â
LAST TIME ON THE GREEN: The Cougars last competed at the Husky Invitational, Sept. 25-26 at Aldarra Golf Course at Sammamish, Wash…led by a career-best fourth-place finish by senior AJ Armstrong (+3, 216), WSU finished sixth as a team, carding 1131 (+66)…junior Daniel Kolar (+13, 226) tied for 27th, finishing just six places above senior Grant Cole (+15, 228), who tied for 33rd…those three were followed by junior Nicklaus Chiam (+17, 230) tying for 40th, junior Scott Redelsperger (+25, 238) tying for 56th, and rounded off by sophomore Ryan Maine (+29, 242), who tied for 63rd.
LAST TIME AT THE PAINTBRUSH INVITATIONAL: The 2017 Paintbrush Invitational was cancelled last season due to snow…two years ago, the Cougars tied for eighth, led by then-senior Nick Mandell and then-sophomore AJ Armstrong who finished 23rd and 25th, respectively.Â
THE LINEUP: Representing the Cougars in Parker will be seniors AJ Armstrong and Grant Cole, and juniors Daniel Kolar, Nicklaus Chiam and Scott Redelsperger…sophomore Ryan Maine will be competing as an individual.
COACHES: The Cougars are led by third-year head coach Dustin White, who played on the men's golf team at Washington State from 1999-2003. White is assisted by first-year assistant coach Kevin Tucker, another Cougar Golf Alumni from 2006-2010.
