Men?s Golf to Compete at Husky Invitational

THIS WEEK: The Washington State University men's golf team tees off the first of back-to-back Washington tournaments, starting with the Husky Invitational, Sept. 21-22, at Cle Elum, Wash., at Tumble Creek Golf Club.
THE COURSE: Suncadia Resort's Tumble Creek Club is a 6,887-yard track that will play at par 71 for the Husky Invitational…teams will tee off Monday at 7:20 a.m. for the first and second rounds…the tournament will conclude Tuesday with the final round of play.
THE FIELD: Joining host-school Washington in the 14-team field will be Boise State, BYU, Gonzaga, Idaho, Minnesota, Oregon, Oregon State, Sacramento State, Seattle, UC Davis, USC, Utah, and Washington State.
LAST TIME AT THE HUSKY INVITATIONAL: WSU placed 10th in a 15-team field at the 2014 Husky Invitational at Bremerton, Wash., at Gold Mountain Golf Club's Olympic Course…the Cougars finished 35-over par (899) on the 7,179-yard track, 32 strokes behind winners UCLA and Oregon (+3, 867).
LAST TIME ON THE GREEN: Sophomore Derek Bayley led the Cougars with a top-25 finish at the Saint Mary's Invitational at Pebble Beach, Calif., Sept. 14-16, at the Poppy Hills Golf Course…Bayley tied for 23rd after finishing 6-over (219), while WSU placed 11th overall (+43, 895) behind winner San Diego State (-1, 851).
COACHING STAFF: The men's golf team is led by fifth-year head coach Garrett Clegg…assisting Clegg is WSU alumnus Dustin White, a third-year assistant coach who golfed for the Cougars from 1999-2003…new to the coaching staff this year is volunteer assistant coach David Nuhn, who golfed for Idaho from 2008-2010.
