BIRD`S HIGH SCHOOL CAREER
GENERAL: Earned four varsity letters in baseball and two in football. SOPHOMORE (2000-01): played outfield, earning All-Midwestern League second-team honors...recipient of MWL gold glove award. JUNIOR (2001-02): First-team All-MWL outfielder...set school record for doubles in a season with 18 and was MWL gold glove winner. SENIOR (2002-03): All-State and all-league first team outfielder...voted team's most valuable offensive player and earned third-straight MWL gold glove award...participated in State Metro game.
BIRD`S ARIZONA WESTERN CC CAREER
FRESHMAN (2003-04): Played both pitcher and outfield positions...started 13 games in the outfield.
BIRD`S MT. HOOD CAREER
SOPHOMORE (2004-05): Named MWAACC Southern Player of the Year and was All-NWAACC first team pitcher...set school record for complete game shutouts (5) and strikeouts in a season (103)...went 10-1 on the mound...named to NWAACC all-tournament team, which included no-hitter against Linn-Benton CC.

JUNIOR (2005-06): Enrolled at WSU in the spring of 2006.

Zachary Matthew Bird...born 5-17-84 at Eugene, Ore...parents Robert and Vickie Bird...one old sister, Bethany, who played softball at Virginia Tech...enjoys hunting, fishing and camping...played for Aloha Knights, earning All-WCCBL first team honors...plans to pursue a history major at WSU.
